DEATHLY SERIOUS ABOUT

KNIFE CARE

As you know our knives are all handmade and finished so they are all different, but we love them all the same and now you will too.

Below are some tips and advice of how to keep yours sharp as hell.

DON’T DISHWASH, IT’S A BIGGIE

Please don’t dishwash, soak the knife or expose to extreme heat.

Give it a wipe or a wash in warm soapy water or with sanitiser spray, and dry.

If needed rub a dab of olive or similar food oil onto the blade and handle to protect it further.

SO, WHAT ABOUT THE BLADE?

Sharpen little and often, between tasks or as needed, on a honing rod/steel. Always chop onto a chopping board, not on glass/ceramic/metal surfaces.

We have created a patina on your knife, to help protect it from rust. This will develop and grow the more you use your knife. Don’t be surprised to see the blade patina change throughout its life, as you use it, it will grow, and further protect your knife. If any rust should form wipe with food grade oil and a soft cloth. If you wash and dry thoroughly between use this shouldn’t happen.

Always make sure your knife is dry before storage. We recommend storing on a magnetic knife rack where possible, or if in a box, put into the bag we provide.

AND THE HANDLE?

The handle, if wooden is stabilised so will not absorb water, in a normal environment, it may need a wax/oil every now and then to keep it looking fresh. If the handle is synthetic or composite then it’s even more durable, but still please don’t dishwash it. We recommend using a natural bees wax, or food grade oil, apply lightly with your fingers and then buff off with a lint free cloth. So, in short, always – Wash and dry by hand after every use.

GOT A QUESTION?
